SGC: You’re a dad to two beautiful girls. What is your idea of the perfect Father’s Day?
HA: Just a day out with them is fine by me. Maybe a hike with some ham and cheese sandwiches and iced tea. They are amazing kids and to see them smile is the best thing ever.
SGC: Empire State South has an amazing garden patio and you probably are happy to hang out there on your day off in Midtown. Where else do you stop, shop, people watch and visit in Midtown ATL?
HA: Midtown ATL is a very happening place these days. For coffee I love to go to my own Spiller Park Coffee cause well, DALE IS THE BEST PERSON EVER. Shopping, I love an afternoon trying on shoes I can’t afford at Sid Mashburn. People watching is fun in Piedmont Park. And I do love a good cocktail at Grain.
SGC: What made you choose Midtown for your Atlanta outpost?
HA: Tenth & Peachtree is literally the center of the city. It just made sense at the time we signed the lease. It bucks up to great neighborhoods and has an immense amount of live/work space right there. It is the epitome of modern ATL.
SGC: To me, the only thing better than getting a gift is giving one. What’s the coolest present you’ve given to someone recently?
HA: Probably a NASA Design book to my friend and chef Matt. It is the style/graphic design manual for NASA. Very cool.
SGC: Do you have a personal soundtrack? We will listen to it next time we cook.
HA: Husker Du, Fugazi, Glenn Gould playing Bach, Dilly Dally, The Afghan Whigs, Archers of Loaf, Younger Lovers, Roland Alphonso.
