“FIND A LIGHT” WITH NEW BEER BENEFITING SHEPHERD’S MEN
Atlanta favorites Hop City Craft Beer & Wine and Monday Night Brewing are teaming up to bring Atlanta a new brew, the “Find a Light” Pale Ale. Named after the newest album by Atlanta-based Southern rock band Blackberry Smoke, all proceeds made from this refreshing, single-malt, single-hop pale ale will go towards Shepherd’s Men, an Atlanta-based organization benefitting the SHARE Military Initiative at Shepherd Center which helps in the rehabilitation for veterans in post-9/11 combat.
Blackberry Smoke has been a long-time supporter of Shepherd’s Men and Find a Light will be their second beer brewed in collaboration with the organization and Hop City Craft Beer & Wine. Made with Golden Promise malt and Lemondrop hops, Find a Light has a 5.22 percent alcohol by volume content that symbolically represents the 22 current and former service members that commit suicide every day.
Available at Hop City’s Krog Street and West Midtown locations, Barleygarden Kitchen & Craft Bar and Monday Night Brewing’s Taproom, there are plenty of chances for Atlantans to drink up and support a great cause.
Atlanta Super Bowl Host Committee Announces Partnership with On Location Experiences
The Atlanta Super Bowl Host Committee has partnered with On Location Experiences, the official hospitality partner of the National Football League, to develop local events surrounding Super Bowl LIII, which will be played on February 3, 2019, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Super Bowl Live, a 10-day festival featuring live music, food, interactive entertainment and more, will be held in downtown Atlanta in the week leading up to the game.
Last year, in partnership with the Minnesota Host Committee, OLE produced the Super Bowl Live festival in Minneapolis leading up to Super Bowl LII. More than 1 million people, attended the 10 days of festivities.
The Host Committee has designated OLE as the national sponsorship agency for this year’s Super Bowl Live, where On Location will be working with sponsors to enhance brand activation at the festival and other events around Atlanta.
At previous Super Bowls, OLE has produced A-list concerts, pregame tailgates and postgame parties, in addition to providing fans with Super Bowl tickets and hospitality packages.
City and MARTA Awarded $12.6 Million TIGER Grant
The United States Department of Transportation has awarded the city and the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority a $12.6 million Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery grant. The $12.6 million grant will help fund a $48.6 million, 9.4-mile route of Bus Rapid Transit from the historic Summerhill neighborhood to the MARTA Arts Center Station in Midtown.
The Summerhill Bus Rapid Transit route will include stations and vehicles linking Midtown, Piedmont Park, Downtown, existing MARTA stations and the new Summerhill mixed-use development.
It represents the first installation of BRT in the state. BRT is a high-capacity transit system that utilizes existing roadways and dedicated lanes to transport passengers quickly throughout a city or region via bus. BRT lines are connected to local traffic grids so they trip lights, stop less frequently than traditional buses, and have prepid ticketing systems.
The project also includes the purchase of approximately five new bus rapid transit vehicles that will operate in a mix of exclusive and shared roadways and the installation of approximately 30 transit station locations with level boarding along with other conveniences.
