With numerous restaurants providing especially Midtown Atlanta a lengthy list of eating options, Kuroshio Midtown Sushi and Lounge gave the area another stellar option by opening its third location to usher in the fall. Formerly a sushi restaurant called Steel, Kuroshio gives Midtown Plaza’s corner on 950 West Peachtree Street an adrenaline shot thanks to its up-tempo vibe, stocked bar and delectable fare.
Celebrating its grand opening with hundreds of excited family, friends and tastemakers who were selectively invited, Kuroshio’s first wave of guests entered the street-level hosting station leading to a bustling main floor one level down. The packed house consisted of multiple conversations, toasting cocktails, chiming silverware, and chopsticks lifting a plethora of sushi variations with dance-inducing music serving as the soundtrack for the evening. Owner Khoa Nguyen was one of the highlights of the evening, working the room with a smile and posing for photo requests. Diners also gawked at the extensive menu that’s consistent with the Kennesaw and Cumberland locations. Everything from shared plates like the Cajun Spiced Calamari Tempura to the numerous Japanese Bento Boxes, wide assortment of nigiri, sashimi, and seemingly countless rolls including the witty “Yellow Jacket” paying homage to the Georgia Tech neighbors—yellow tail, snow crab mixed, avocado and shrimp tempura rolled in soy nori—Kuroshio is geared to please virtually every palate.
Whether sitting in a plush leather booth, at the energetic sushi station or ordering at the centrally located bar boasting an impressive sake list, this dining destination promises to be the place to be for a festive lunch or a night on the town.
