At the High

The High Museum of Art is the debut U.S. venue for Making Africa: A Continent of Contemporary Design, on view now through January 7, 2018. Don’t miss your chance to see this major touring exhibition that offers a fresh look at African design through a myriad of diverse works by more than 120 artists. Ranging from playful to provocative to political, the works include sculpture, prints, fashion, furniture, film, photography and more.  The exhibition offers a vision of Africa in the 21st century as a place of unbounded optimism, rapid growth, and massive cultural transformation and focuses on a generation of entrepreneurs, thinkers, and designers from and within Africa addressing a global audience and providing the world with a new vantage point on their continent. The exhibition also illustrates how the artists use their work to effect significant economic, social and political change.

Office Space

When Bennett Thrasher, a full service accounting firm and 8th largest CPA firm in Atlanta, was ready to develop a workplace strategy for their new Atlanta headquarters, they came back to the team that designed their existing space.  Working with a core leadership team and Bennett Thrasher’s corporate real estate consultants, HLGstudio helped identify, plan and design a new workplace consisting of 58,000+ square feet of space.  The new office is positioned for long term success through modular / adaptable space planning, branded interiors and the implementation of new technology throughout the three floors they occupy to help increase worker productivity and satisfaction.  Through a communicating stair that connects the two main levels, Bennett Thrasher associates will be able to collaborate with each other more than ever, supporting work processes that embody their vision of “better together.”

Art and Giving

Art For Art has teamed up with an international charity to bring Atlantans a unique opportunity this Thanksgiving: take home your favorite works of art produced by talented student artists from underserved communities in Africa and support the students’ visual arts classes in Africa. The “Art For Africa” Exhibition opens on Saturday, November 25, in the exhibition space at The Ballog, an artisans market in Serenbe. On display will be artwork from Africa, which visitors can take home. Admission is free, and visitors are encouraged to connect not only with the drawings and paintings, but also with the student artists who created them, through short bios that are included with each piece.
