At Midtown Center for Advanced Periodontics, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry, Dr. Brock Pumphrey replaces teeth daily. If someone knocks out a front tooth, he’s able to replace the tooth in the same day. If someone has suffered from tooth decay, he can salvage the teeth and create a natural, healthy smile moving forward. As dental specialists, Dr. Pumphrey and practice founder Dr. Shuster spent three additional years of training to specialize in the field of implants, and their practices have made a positive impact on Midtown.
Atlanta native Dr. Pumphrey graduated from Woodward Academy, attended Augusta University, previously known as Medical College of Georgia, and earned his dental degree. He stayed there for an additional three years earning his certificate in the specialty of periodontics. He now carries on the legacy of Dr. Shuster with Midtown Center for Advanced Periodontics, a practice founded more than 30 years ago as one of the first periodontal practices in Atlanta.
Now that he’s been in Midtown for nearly a year, Dr. Pumphrey has seen many teeth transformations. One patient consulted with the dental implant specialist to simply improve his smile. He wasn’t vain or seeking a toothy grin for the ladies, but for the No. 1 girl in his life: his daughter. In anticipation of a father-daughter dance, the patient had a consultation with Dr. Pumphrey to evaluate his medical history, get X-rays and learn more about dental implant procedures. Rather than resorting to dentures, Dr. Pumphrey provided a full set of teeth fixed in with implants in one session.
“In just one morning I was able to give him something he can wear permanently that looks absolutely natural—much more natural than what he had before—all so he could smile for the Daddy-Daughter Dance,” he says.
The values of Midtown Center of Advanced Periodontics run deep as some of the staff have been there for more than 25 years. Dr. Pumphrey said the tight-knit team listens to everything from James Brown to the latest hits as they treat patients, and patients always leave singing “I Feel Good.”
Chomper Crash Course:
Dental implants simply replace a missing tooth root. The implant is attached to a porcelain crown or other restoration with a support. Dental implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth, several missing teeth or all your teeth. The implant looks, feels and functions in the same manner as a natural tooth. Because it replaces the tooth root as well as the visible part of the tooth, it helps deter bone loss.
